Violent Canadian sex offender slips past U.S. border

KGMI News Reporting

BLAINE, Wash. – A violent sex offender wanted in Canada has entered the U.S. at a Blaine border crossing.

An Edmonton police detective says they warned U.S. Border officials that Michael Sean Stanley may try to cross into the U.S., but he was still able to cross the border in Blaine on Monday.

Stanley was under supervision in Alberta when he apparently cut off a monitoring bracelet and fled.

A spokesperson for the Washington State Patrol says Stanley’s whereabouts are unknown and authorities here can’t arrest him because he’s not wanted for any crimes in the United States.

Stanley has a long history of sex crimes against women and children in Canada.
