Machinists vote this week on Boeing offer

EVERETT, Wash. – The international president of the Machinists union says Boeing’s new contract offer is a billion dollars better than the contract the union rejected last month.

Boeing is seeking a new contract with machinists in the Puget Sound area that would move workers away from traditional pension plans.

Union members will vote this week on the latest offer.

Boeing has vowed to build the company’s new 777X airplane in the Puget Sound if the machinists agree to the new contract.

Members of the Machinists union who oppose Boeing’s offer are planning a “Vote No” rally on Thursday, the day before the scheduled vote on the proposal.

The Everett “Daily Herald” reports organizers are hoping to get a thousand union members to participate in the rally at the District 751 lodge in Seattle.
