Whatcom County probably won’t see a drop in the number of Canadian shoppers this weekend even though the Canadian dollar has fallen below 97-cents.
The head of the Bellingham/Whatcom County Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ken Oplinger says he doesn’t see the dollar dropping below 90-cents until next year.
Oplinger say he is not surprised the Loonie dropped a few cents.
He says the Canadian dollar is more affected by commodities such as gold, silver and oil then the U.S. dollar.
