BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A big step forward for the Bellingham waterfront redevelopment plan as the City Council has given preliminary approval for the master plan.
Mayor Kelli Linville is thrilled with the plan’s design, which outlines what kinds of development will go where in the 237 acres.
The plan rezones the log pond to light industrial, makes way for a new park at Cornwall Beach, maps the roadways, and discusses zoning in the downtown waterfront area for shops, offices and homes.
The city council still must give final approval to the plan before the city can start making deals with developers to start building.
Linville says there’s still months to go before any ground is broken.
