BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Center Austin Bragg won the dunk contest and the Viking women took a thrilling victory in the 3-point contest at the 27th Annual Western Washington University Viking Jam held Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the WWU campus.
Bragg scored a perfect 50 on his last dunk of the final round. He beat out Jeffrey Parker, who had an effort judged at 48. The other finalist was Robert Harris, Jr., a transfer from NCAA Division I Idaho.
Katie Colard hit a shot at the buzzer to give the women a 45-44 win over the men in the 3-point contest. Taylor Peacocke hit 11 treys during her 30-second segment and Aleisha Hathaway had 10.
The men were led by Evan Scholten with 11 threes and Joey Schreiber had nine.
The WWU women host Quest BC in an exhibition contest on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 4 p.m., and the men have their 21st Annual Blue/White game on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 4 p.m.
