BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The state Department of Labor and Industries wants to increase worker’s compensation premiums next year.

Bill Gorman, Interim Director of the Bellingham Whatcom Chamber of Commerce and Industry says with employers still unsure about the impacts of the Affordable Care Act, it is not a good time to raise employer’s rates.

Play Bill Gorman on increase

Worker’s compensation premium rates would increase 2.7 percent next year, an increase of less than two cents per hour worked.

It would be first rate increase for Washington businesses in three years.
