WWU men’s basketball team drops 10 spots in national poll

The Western Viking men’s basketball team dropped 10 spots in the latest National Association  of Basketball Coaches NCAA Division II men’s basketball poll. The 8-2 Vikings check in at Number 15 after losing a pair of games at their own South Point Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas. Western fell to Cal State San Bernadino and Tarleton State of Texas.

The top four spots remain unchanged with West Liberty leading the way and Bellarmine, Drury and Florida Southern in spots 2 through 4.

Fellow Great Northwest Athletic Conference members Seattle Pacific University is Number 11 and University of Alaska-Anchorage is No. 23.

The Vikings, 2-0 in conference play, visit Alaska Anchorage Thursday and University of Alaska Fairbanks Saturday for a pair of GNAC contests to start the new year.
