A missing Western Washington University student was found safe this morning.

Bellingham Police Sergeant Shawn Aiumu says a friend had last seen 20-year-old Daniel Powell go out the back door of a party house late Friday night. He had been wearing a Halloween Superman costume.

Later, police got a call on dispatch from Daniel at 1:30 a.m. He said he was “cold, wet and lost in the woods.” Later, his phone went dead and police were unable to make contact with him.

Western Washington University had issued a campus alert and Bellingham Police had left voicemail messages for residents near the Sehome arboretum.

Sergeant Aiumu says Daniel was found just before 9 o’clock this morning, near the corner of 36th Street and Cowgill Avenue.
