WWU Volleyball: Vikings move up to No.7 in AVCA Top 25 Poll

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Winning 11 of its first 12 matches, 10 of them sweeps, the nationally top 10 ranked Western Washington University volleyball team is on the road, traveling to Saint Martin’s on Thursday, Oct. 10 (7 p.m.), and to Western Oregon on Saturday, Oct. 12 (7 p.m.), for a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference matches.

The Vikings, riding a four-match winning streak, moved up two spots for the fourth straight week to No.7 in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association/NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll. The defending GNAC champions are 4-0 in league play, with Alaska Anchorage at 6-0.

The 11-1 start is WWU’s best since 2008 when it began 13-0. The Vikings opened 24-1 in 2003, and 12-1 in both 1996 and 1980.
