BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Western Washington University’s Chip Jackson was named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Male Runner of the Week for Oct. 6-12.
Jackson, a senior from Shoreline (graduate of Shorewood High School), led the Vikings to a perfect score in the 40th Annual WWU Cross Country Classic last Saturday, completing the 10-kilometer course in 32:03.
Jackson was the first collegiate finisher and placed fifth overall in leading WWU to the 13th title at the meet and the first since 2009.
The perfect score of 15 points was just the fourth in meet history. It also was accomplished by WWU in 2008 and1983 and by Club Northwest in 1998.
