BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Bellingham man who beat his girlfriend when she didn’t give him a kiss goodnight has been sentenced 16 years in prison.

It is Brent Bruwelheide’s fifth felony assault.

The Bellingham Herald reports that after he was arrested for beating and strangling of his girlfriend, he called her from jail and asked her not to testify against him.

He pleaded guilty yesterday to assault and attempted assault charges.

The judge sent Bruwelheide to prison 16 years and eight months.
