BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The City of Bellingham is asking people to limit lawn watering in order to conserve drinking water during the summer.

Water use often doubles as the warmer summer weather kicks in, and that puts a strain on the city’s water filtration plant.

People with odd-numbered street addresses are asked to limit lawn watering to Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays for the rest of the summer.

People with even-numbered addresses are asked to water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

No one should water their lawns on Mondays so that reservoirs can recharge after the weekend.

People might also consider letting their lawn go dormant for the summer; it will green up when the rain returns in the fall.

There are more summer watering tips on the city’s website.
