Cal Ripken State Tourney begins in Ferndale

The North Washington 11-and-under Cal Ripken State Tournament gets underway today in Ferndale. The tournament runs through Sunday at the ConocoPhillips Sportsplex baseball fields. It’s the first time Whatcom County has hosted the yearly competition

12 teams will be in action, including local squads from Bellingham, Lynden and Ferndale. The Ferndale team is defending their state title won last year.

A total of 29 games will be played. The championship game is scheduled for 1:00pm on Sunday.
