Death toll in Snohomish County mudslide rises to 8, 18 reportedly missing

The mudslide in Snohomish County has now killed eight people, according Snohomish County officials.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s also added that the situation is still active search and rescue operation.

18 people are reportedly missing but authorities say that number is fluid.

Evacuations are still on as officials still fear flooding of the Stillguamish River.

Over 28 to 30 homes were destroyed in the slide according to officials, with the mud reported to be 60 feet deep in some areas.

The mudslide occured just before 11 a.m. Saturday morning near the tiny town of Oso about 60 miles south of Bellingham.
