HOF weekend for former M’s skipper Lou Piniella

The winningest manager in Seattle Mariners history becomes the eighth member of the Mariners Hall of Fame Saturday. Lou Piniella will be honored with a special pregame ceremony August 9th when the Mariners take on the Chicago White Sox.

Piniella joins Alvin Davis, Dave Niehaus, Jay Buhner, Edgar Martinez, Randy Johnson, Dan Wilson and Ken Griffey Jr. in the Mariners Hall of Fame.

The celebration begins today with a Hall of Fame Luncheon for Piniella at Safeco Field beginning at noon. We will air live coverage of the luncheon ceremony on KPUG 1170AM.

Piniella went 840-711 during his 10 year tenure as manager of the Mariners. He posted seven winning seasons, won three American League West Division championships and made four postseason appearances. Lou was also at the helm in during the Mariners historic 2001 season when they tied the record for most regular season wins with 116.

Saturday’s special pregame ceremony starts at 5:30pm. First pitch is at 6:10pm. You can hear it all on KPUG.
