The Seattle Mariners will open their 38th season on the road tonight in Anaheim vs. the L.A. Angels. Felix Hernandez will make his 6th consecutive and 7th career opening day start.  King Felix is 4-0 in opening day starts with a 1.33 ERA.

The Angels will counter with right-hander Jared Weaver on the mound. Weaver went 11-and-8 with a 3.27 ERA last season for the Halos.

Tonight’s game marks 2 big beginnings for Seattle. Robinson Cano will make his Mariners debut at second base. Cano signed a 10-year 240 million dollar deal during the off season. Tonight’s match-up also marks the start of Lloyd McClendon’s Mariners managerial career. He is the 16th full-time skipper for the club.

The Mariners completed Spring Training with an 18-12-3 record, the 3rd-best winning percentage in the Cactus League.
