Mariners option Almonte to Class AAA Tacoma

The Seattle Mariners have optioned outfielder Abraham Almonte to Class AAA Tacoma following the Mariners 8-7 victory over the Houston Astros on Sunday.

Although no corresponding roster move has been made but reports indicate that outfielder James Jones is expected to receive the call-up. Jones’ slash line is .313/.382/.450 in 20 games for the Rainiers in 2014. He has hit 2 home runs and drove in eight runs.

The Mariners return to action against Oakland on Monday. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Oakland Coliseum.

The Hawks announced Saturday that Korver has a severe high right ankle sprain. A foot and ankle specialist will determine the best course of treatment, but he definitely won't play again in the postseason.
