Reports of stabbing and self inflected gun shot wound in Ferndale

A possible stabbing and suicide attempt in Ferndale.

The Bellingham Herald is reporting that a man apparently stabbed a woman on Patriot Place… then shot himself in the head when police chased him down.

Police used a patrol car to cause the vehicle the man was driving to crash near the corner of Smith Road and Northwest Avenue.

The Herald reports… before police could pull the driver from the Tahoe, he apparently shot himself in the head.

The stabbing victim was taken to St. Joseph hospital.

Her condition is not available.
