Retail sales in county show decrease

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Statewide retail sales had a nice increase in the first quarter, but Whatcom County didn’t follow suit.

County retail sales are down compared to the same time a year earlier, but by just a fraction.

Statewide retail sales are up close to 5 percent.

The City of Bellingham also saw a slight decrease in retail sales.

Sales were down a little more than one percent.
