WASHINGTON D.C. – Some Senators are expressing their frustration that the government has not moved faster to impose stronger safety rules for oil trains.
During a Senate subcommittees hearing, Washington Senator Maria Cantwell explained that trains transporting crude oil are a major safety concern for Washington State.
Some oil companies have voluntarily started using safer oil rail cars, but some feel the safety measures should be mandatory in light of recent fiery freight train accidents.
