BELLINGHAM, Wash. –¬†For the second time in two weeks, a Washington Federal bank branch in Bellingham was robbed by a white man in a black hat.

The latest bank robbery happened Friday afternoon.

The man, wearing a cream-colored striped shirt and a black hat walked into the Lakeway Drive branch of the bank around 3:40 p.m. Friday and slipped a note to the teller, demanding cash.

Bellingham Police Lt. Bob Vander Yacht says he did not flash a gun or weapon.

Police and U.S. Border Patrol helicopters scoured the area but couldn’t find him.

A police dog tracked a scent that disappeared, leaving officers thinking he may have jumped into a vehicle.

The previous robbery happened July 18 where the robber wore a black hat and sunglasses. Security footage showed he escaped in a green mid-’90s Land Rover Discovery.
