BURNABY, B.C. – Alexie Levin (So., Everett) was 4-for-5, driving in four runs and scoring three, and Haylee Baker (Sr., Poulsbo/Bainbridge) was 3-for-5 with four runs scored and three RBI as Western Washington University banged out a school-record 22 hits in a 14-7 win over Simon Fraser University to begin a Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball doubleheader Sunday at Beedie Field on the SFU campus.

The Vikings completed the sweep with a 10-4 victory in the second game as they had 15 hits and pitcer Aspen Ison (Fr., Gig Harbor/Peninsula) (5-3) went the distance.

The triumphs extended WWU’s winning streak to a season-high six as it improved to 17-8 overall and 9-5 in GNAC action. Simon Fraser fell to 2-21 overall and 2-12 in conference play.

The Vikings have now scored double-figure runs in eight games this season, breaking the school record of seven set in 2007 and matched in 2009.

In the opener, WWU scored a run in every inning except the second. Levin had a two-run double in the fourth and her team-leading seventh home run in the sixth that drove in two more. Baker, whose four runs scored tied a school record, had a two-run double in the Vikings’ four-run seventh.

WWU starting pitcher Jenna DeRosier (Sr., Kelso) won her fifth straight game, going 5-2/3 innings in upping her record to 10-3. Ison worked the last 1-2/3 innings.

Kaitlyn Cameron drove in five runs for the Clan.

In the nightcap, WWU’s Meghan Carrillo (Sr., Prundale, CA/North Monterey County) was 3-for-4 and hit her first homer of the season, a two-run shot in a three-run fourth.

Kaleigh Keating (Sr., Salinas, CA/Notre Dame Salinas) hit a run-scoring triple in the fifth and Autumn Isaacson (Jr., Lake Stevens) had a two-run triple in the Vikings’ four-run sixth. WWU’s Kali Patterson (Fr., Bonney Lake) was 4-for-4 and 7-for-7 on the day.

SFU got a two-run homer by Robyn Mogavero in the fifth and the Clan scored two unearned runs in the seventh.

Isaacson continued her streak of reaching base in every game this season.

WWU is at Turlock, Calif., for a single game with Sonoma State on Thursday (4 p.m.) before competing in the Cal State Stanislaus Tournament of Champions on Friday thru Sunday.
