Chris Brown enters rehab to ‘gain focus’ into behavior

Troubled R&B star Chris Brown has checked into a rehab facility just a day after appearing in court on assault charges following a fight outside a Washington, D.C. hotel.

The singer was taken into custody after allegedly lashing out at a 20-year-old man who was attempting to board his tour bus early on Sunday, and he appeared in court on Monday to fight the charges. He pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor and was released on bail.

And now it appears Brown has decided to seek help for his temper troubles – a representative has revealed he has checked into rehab to tackle his anger management issues.

A statement reads: “Chris Brown has elected to enter a rehab facility. His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point.”

Brown was scheduled to headline a New York radio station’s Halloween party on Tuesday, but organizers were forced to scrap the event.

The singer’s anger problems began at the beginning of 2009 when he beat up then-girlfriend Rihanna during a fight on the eve of the Grammy Awards. Brown is still on probation for that assault and faces up to four years in prison if Los Angeles prosecutors feel his latest arrest violates his probation.

The “Kiss Kiss” singer and his entourage were also involved in a New York City club fight with rapper Drake in 2012 and a car park scuffle with Frank Ocean in January. He also trashed a backstage area and broke a window after a difficult TV interview with newswoman Robin Roberts in March, 2011.

Then, in June, a 24-year-old woman accused Brown of assaulting her after his show at a California nightclub. She alleged that he shoved her to the ground, badly injuring her knee. The accusation against him was later dropped.

Washington’s wildfire season off to an abrupt and early start

A line of fire snakes along a hillside at dusk Friday, July 18, 2014, in Winthrop, Wash. A fire racing through rural north-central Washington destroyed about 100 homes, leaving behind smoldering rubble, solitary brick chimneys and burned-out automobiles as it blackened hundreds of square miles. Friday's dawn revealed dramatic devastation, with the Okanagan County town of Pateros, home to 650 people, hit especially hard.

Fire officials say they were surprised to see wildfires burning this early west of the Cascades, particularly one that burned nearly 300 acres. The blazes fueled worries about what lies ahead.
