Country music icon Glen Campbell will probably never perform again, according to his wife.

Kim Woolen claims the “Wichita Lineman” hitmaker’s Alzheimer’s disease symptoms have robbed Campbell of his ability to recall lyrics and play the guitar.

She explains, “He can’t even tune a guitar now. If I tune one and hand it to him he can still play, (but) not like he used to. He can play a couple licks here and there, and he finds joy in that.”

The singer moved into a memory-care facility near the couple’s Nashville, Tennessee home earlier this year when his condition became too severe for family members to look after him.

Woolen is happy that her husband is getting the best care possible and she visits him every day.

She tells, “It’s a very nurturing place… (and) he feels secure there. I sit with him through his meals… (and) we hug each other and cuddle. I savour every day.

“There’s a lot of sadness (but) we just continue to try to make the best of every day and keep a sense of humor.”
