STREET ART: This 8-foot Oscar statue replica appeared Friday on Hollywood Boulevard.

Notorious Los Angeles based street artist Plastic Jesus struck again on Friday with a controversial art installation on the corner of La Brea and Hollywood Boulevard.

An 8-foot replica Oscar award holding a syringe to its forearm appeared, just days ahead of the Academy Awards.

The plaque on the bottom of the statue reads “Hollywood’s Best Kept Secret”.

The art stunt follows the recent death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was found dead in his New York apartment of a suspected drug overdose. Hoffman won an Academy Award for Best Actor in 2005 for his role in “Capote”

Plastic Jesus hit the headlines in 2013 with his Best Buy Prank “Useless Plastic Box 1.2,” which saw the artist placing fake products, complete with price tags, on the shelves of six Best Buy stores in Los Angeles area. The fakes went unnoticed by staff for the several days.
