Tina Turner has taken the first step to officially cut ties with the U.S. after filing paperwork with the American Embassy in Bern, Switzerland, to relinquish her citizenship.

The veteran R&B star, 73, who has been residing in Switzerland for over two decades, has declared she has “no plans” to live in America again in the documents, obtained by The Washington Post.

Turner became a Swiss citizen in April, three months before she wed longtime boyfriend Erwin Bach, a European music producer.
