Las Vegas stalwart Wayne Newton is to play Billy Ray Cyrus’ uncle in a new TV series.

Miley’s dad will play a celebrity-turned-preacher in The King is Alive, and he has asked the veteran entertainer to play his relative.

Newton tells Closer, “I went crazy for it. It’s very well-written. It’s a drama and a comedy.

“Billy’s such a creative talent; he is one of those people you just want to hang around.”
