Ethics Complaint Filed Against County Councilman

BELLINGHAM, Wash, -- A local political activist and blogger has filed a formal ethics complaint against County Councilman Sam Crawford.

The complaint filed by Shane Roth alleges that Crawford violated the code of ethics when he allowed property owners in Birch Bay and Drayton Harbor to rezone their land without paying any fees to the county…

Meanwhile Crawford says he’s taking the complaint with a grain of salt…

Crawford says both rezones were reviewed and approved by the whole council through the public process, and that the rezone was done on behalf of potentially hundreds of landowners over a broad area of the county.

The complaint will now go to the chairman of the Ethics Commission for review.
