BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Potential judicial candidates are already voicing their intent to fill a future vacancy on the Whatcom County Superior Court bench.

Judge Steven Mura has announced that he plans to retire at the end of the year after a 20 year tenure to focus on other things.

He says his successor will face several challenges…




Four potential candidates have announced their intention to run for the seat Mura leaves behind.

They are District Court Judge David Grant, Court Commissioner Pete Smiley, District Judge Pro Tem Carrie Coppinger Carter and local attorney Deborra Garrett.
