WA Sen. Among Those Pushing Komen On P.P. Decision

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Metro Networks Inc.)  -- More than 20 Senate Democrats are adding their voices to the chorus of those protesting a controversial decision by a leading breast cancer charity.

Washington Senator Patty Murray and Senator Frank Lautenberg are among those signing the letter to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure group.

The charity has pulled its financial support from Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood says it uses the money from Komen to pay for more than 150-thousand breast examinations and other breast cancer-related services.

The Komen charity denies that pulling the funds from Planned Parenthood was a politically motivated decision.

Planned Parenthood has been under fire for providing birth control and abortion services to women and is prohibited from using federal funds to provide abortions.
