Bellingham Family Still Hospitalized After New Year's Day Fire

SEATTLE, Wash. -- A month after escaping with their lives in a New Year's Day fire that destroyed their rented home, a Bellingham family is still recovering at Harborview Medical Center.

Jennifer MacGregor and her two young daughters were trapped by the flames in a bedroom.

Jennifer's husband, Joseph got out, but went back in to save his family.

He remains in intensive care.

Jennifer and her 13-year-old daughter, Summer, say that no one in the family remembers anything about that day.

Their first memory is waking up in the hospital seven days later, in severe pain.

They are amazed at how the community has stepped up to help.

One neighbor is donating the use of their rental house until the MacGregors are able to pay rent.

Meanwhile, 30-thousand has been raised to help with medical needs.

The family, with no renters' insurance, lost everything.

Medical insurance only covers the girls.
