Overstreet Sponsors 'Preservation Of Liberty' Act



OLYMPIA, Wash. -- One state lawmaker has introduced legislation that would condemn the indefinite detention of U.S. citizens and legal immigrants in Washington State under a recently enacted federal law.

Representative Jason Overstreet of the 42nd District says he wrote the bill in response to the National Defense Authorization Act signed by President Obama on December 31st.

Overstreet's 'Preservation of Liberty Act' affirms the threat of terrorism, but challenges the new federal act on constitutional grounds...
 
 


House bill 2759 has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee; however, it is unclear whether it will be ruled on before the legislative session adjourns on March 8th.
