WA State House Expected To Pass Gay Marriage Bill
OLYMPIA, Wash. (Metro Networks Inc.) -- The Washington state House is expected to approve gay marriage today.
Floor debate is scheduled to begin this afternoon, and even opponents acknowledge that the measure is likely to pass by a comfortable margin.
Last week, the Senate approved the measure by a vote of 28 to 21.
Governor Christine Gregoire has said on numerous occasions that she backs the legislation.
If all goes as expected, Washington will join New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Iowa and the District of Columbia in allowing same-sex marriage.
