SEATTLE, Wash. (Metro Networks Inc.) -- The controversial Westboro Baptist Church is reportedly cancelling its plans to picket at funerals for two little boys who died in a Washington state house explosion.
Earlier this week, the anti-gay church said it would demonstrate at services Saturday for Charlie and Braden Powell.
It's believed their father set off the deadly blast last weekend.
Seattle's KOMO television reports that Westboro founder Fred Phelps Junior confirmed the cancellation in a tweet.
The Westboro church originally said it would protest to send a signal about recent moves to approve gay marriage in Washington.
Occupy Seattle protesters pledged to put on a counter-demonstration at the funeral services.
They said they would try to protect the funeral from "Westboro's abhorrent message."
