Man Accused Of Killing Baby Daughter Back In Court

LUMMI RESERVATION, Wash. -- A Lummi man accused of killing his six-month-old daughter is back in court today.

A federal court judge in Seattle will set bail this afternoon for 22-year-old Lawrence Tom, junior.

He faces charges of second-degree murder for squeezing the crying girl’s head until he heard a “popping noise.”

Court documents show Tom confessed he fractured the child’s skull May 10, but didn’t think the injury was significant, waiting three days to call 911 when the girl stopped breathing.

She died later that morning and Tom initially lied about the baby’s injuries, saying she had accidentally hit her head several times.

Another 18-month-old girl was removed from the home and put into the custody of child protective services.

Tom could face a maximum of life in prison if convicted.
