BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- A man convicted of killing his estranged wife in Bellingham is going to prison Tuesday. A judge yesterday handed down a sentence of nearly 32 years for Keayn Dunya. A jury last week found Dunya guilty of murdering Kriston Peterman-Dunya last summer. Whatcom County prosecutor David McEachran says Dunya displayed no feelings of remorse on videotaped evidence after the killing. McEachran says he wishes Dunya could have gotten more time, but that was the maximum allowed by law. Kriston Peterman-Dunya was murdered early July third with a single shotgun blast to the chest. McEachran says a bitter custody battle over their young son may have been a motive. He says department of corrections crews will take Dunya to prison today.
