Same-sex Marriage Officially On November Ballot

OLYMPIA, Wash.  (Metro)  -- The Washington Secretary of State's Office announces Referendum 74, which asks voters to accept or reject the law that legalizes same-sex marriage, has officially qualified to be on the November ballot.

The agency says there were more than enough valid signatures submitted to have the item placed on the ballot, despite pages of apparently fraudulent signatures that will be investigated by state police.

Earlier this year, Governor Gregoire signed the gay-marriage bill approved by the state Legislature.

The law was put on hold after gay-marriage opponents submitted petitions calling for voters to decide the law's fate.
