Graduation Season: WSP Warns Against Fatal Collision

WASHINGTON STATE -- Graduation time brings parties, celebrations and unfortunately, according to Washington State Patrol, more fatal accidents out on the road.

Lieutenant Kandi Patrick with the State Patrol says that 20 percent of deaths involving young drivers occur in July and August.

She believes prevention of these tragedies starts with parents talking to their kids about drinking and driving before it becomes a problem.

Patrick says the number one factor involved in fatal collisions is speeding followed by alcohol or drug impairment and distracted driving.
