VANCOUVER, Wash. (Metro) -- A 66 foot long floating dock that drifted across the Pacific to the Oregon coast following last year's earthquake and tsunami in Japan will be removed by Ballard Diving and Salvage of Seattle.
Personnel from the company's Vancouver branch will dismantle the dock, located north of Newport, Oregon, at a cost of more than $84,000.
The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department says parts of the dock will be used for a local memorial.
The dock has become a tourist attraction since washing ashore earlier this month.
