FERNDALE, Wash. -- A standoff with a potentially armed suspect affects traffic Saturday afternoon east of Ferndale.

Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo says the suspect had barricaded himself in a home in the 3200 block of Northwest Drive.

Because deputies feared the suspect may be armed, they set a wide perimeter around the home, blocking some traffic on Northwest.

Elfo did not release the suspect’s name.
