Rep. Larsen For Supreme Court Immigration Decision

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- U.S. Congressman Rick Larsen is speaking out in favor of yesterday's Supreme Court decision against most of Arizona's controversial immigration law.

The representative from Washington's second congressional district says the decision reaffirms the constitutional authority of the federal government to write and enforce immigration policy.

He says our country can't have 50 different sets of immigration laws.

The court upheld part of the law that requires officers in Arizona to check the immigration status of anyone they suspect may be in the country illegally.

Larsen says other states like Washington could consider adopting a similar requirement until that issue is separately challenged in court.

He says he'll continue to work in congress toward comprehensive immigration reform that brings consistency and fairness to America's immigration system.
