Whatcom County Shares Transportation Dollars

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Lynden and the Lummi Nation are getting some transportation dollars thanks to Bellingham and Whatcom County.

County Executive Jack Louws says he and Bellingham Mayor Kelli Linville met this week and agreed to divert some of their allocated federal road funding.

Lynden will get $120,000 toward a project to extend Main Street west of the Guide Meridian, and the Lummi Nation will receive $145,000 to help install sidewalks at Gooseberry Point.

Louws says the county is giving up $150,000 from a project to install left-turn lanes on Slater Road, and Bellingham is giving $115,000 from a project to rebuild the intersection of east Bakerview and James Street roads.
