BLAINE, Wash. -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection expects long lines and heavy traffic at the border this week due to the Canada Day and Fourth of July holidays.

Customs officials are reminding all travelers to plan their trip in advance...



Customs spokesman Mike Milne says be sure to have your passport card or enhanced drivers license or trusted traveler card ready when crossing the border.

He says anyone flying out of the U.S. for the summer Olympics in London needs to get their passports now.

Border crossers can avoid the long lines at Peace Arch by using less-traveled ports of entry at Sumas or Lynden.

The Sumas crossing has a newly-constructed nexus lane open from 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. seven days a week.

Summer travelers can also go to www.cbp.gov to check border wait times.
