Police, Fire Department On Look-Out For Illegal Fireworks

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- The Bellingham Police and Fire Departments were out on patrols over the weekend looking for anyone lighting fireworks in the city before the Fourth of July.

Police Spokesman Officer Mark Young says fireworks are only allowed in Bellingham city limits between 9 a.m. and midnight on July 4.

He says fireworks continue to cause several injuries every year around Independence Day.

Young also cautions people to stay away from high-powered explosive devices such as M80’s, or homemade fireworks, which are illegal in the city.

Patrol teams will be out again on the Fourth of July reminding people about the city's fireworks requirements.
