Woman Alive After Near Fatal Accident

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Troopers say a Deming woman is lucky to be alive after she rear-ended a trailer load of long wooden poles on the Mount Baker Highway east of Bellingham yesterday.

State Trooper Keith Leary says 36-year-old Erin Bruns was taken to Peace Health Saint Joseph Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries after the crash near Everson Goshen Road.

The 60-year-old B.C. man towing the trailer told investigators he had slowed down for a turning dump truck.
