Some Call For Puyallup Mayor's Resignation Amid Scandal

PUYALLUP, Wash. (Metro)  -- Some Puyallup residents want the mayor to resign, amid accusations that he inappropriately touched two women.

KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reports a second woman stepped up publicly at last night's city council meeting and said that Mayor Rick Hansen touched her inappropriately.

Former city council employee Nicole Martineau said the mayor grabbed her shoulders and shook her back and forth before a council meeting last year.

The first accusation came last week from another employee who said Hansen flirtatiously touched her shoulder and made inappropriate comments.

The woman said several days later, Hansen put his hands on her hips.

The city spent 17-hundred dollars on an awareness class for Hansen.

The mayor apologized at last night's meeting, saying he was truly sorry and embarrassed, assuring the council it will never happen again.

The all-male city council voted to admonish the mayor, but some residents say that's not enough.

They want Hansen gone.
