DUPONT, Wash. (Metro) -- Opponents of the fundamentalist Westboro Baptist Church protests have a new tactic here in Washington State.
Volunteers mobilized last week to dress as zombies when they heard members of the Kansas church were going to demonstrate near Joint Base Lewis McChord.
The Westboro contingent planned to gather to rail against homosexuality and “idol worshipping.”
Organizer Melissa Neace dressed as a blood-dripping creature for the counter-protest on Friday.
She said “it was the easiest was to divert attention from something so hateful.”
The Westboro demonstrators left after about 30 minutes.
