SHELTON, Wash. -- The 16-year-old subject of an Amber alert early Wednesday was found safe north of Shelton after apparently faking her own abduction.
Mason County Sheriff’s officials tell KING 5 News Viviana Gaspar-Guerrero admitted she had left her Shelton home on her own and had possibly helped make her disappearance look like a crime scene.
The screen of her room was cut and there were signs of a struggle inside and outside the room.
Authorities say they are still investigating whether Gaspar-Guerrero actually made her room look like a crime scene.
She could be criminally charged if she did.
Gaspar-Guerrero was found at a friend’s house Wednesday afternoon after she was reported missing by her parents.
