OLYMPIA, Wash. (Metro) -- Hire an unemployed veteran, get a tax credit.
That's what Washington's Employment Security Department is telling employers right now.
It says the Work Opportunity Tax Credit can reduce this year's federal taxes by up to $9,600 for each eligible military veteran hired before the end of the year, and there's no limit on the number of hires.
The department says the unemployment rate among Iraq and Afghanistan veterans is still too high.
