LYNDEN, Wash. -- Police are spelling out the steps they're taking to prevent another gang shooting at the Northwest Washington Fair.
Lynden Police have partnered with private security guards and Whatcom County Sheriff's Deputies so extra officers are patrolling the fairgrounds this year.
Lynden Police Chief Jack Foster says they will immediately remove anyone they identify as a gang member.
Officers are looking out for people with typical gang clothing, gang tattoos or people flashing gang signs.
Police will avoid using metal detectors.
Chief Foster says officers will do everything they can to make sure the fair stays safe without getting in the way of fairgoers.
